Built in the 1870s, this spacious three-story historic home puts your group in the heart of downtown Charleston while giving you plenty of room to gather, relax, and enjoy the city together.
The home takes its name from the distinctive penny floor in the foyer, one of the details that helped inspire our Charleston Vacation Palaces theme. Throughout the house, original wood floors, exposed beams, fireplaces, and historic character are paired with the modern conveniences today's guests expect.

We are a local, family-owned and operated Charleston vacation rental business. Our family has called Charleston home for more than 12 years, and we live here with our three children and dogs. We started our vacation rental journey in 2023 with The Penny Palace and later added The Crystal Palace in 2025. Our properties are supported by experienced property management, and we work hard to give guests a smooth, comfortable experience from booking through checkout. We love Charleston’s history, architecture, restaurants, beaches, and neighborhoods, and we hope our homes give guests a memorable place to experience the city we call home. We were drawn to this historic 1870s home because it offered the character that makes Charleston so distinctive — original wood floors, exposed beams, fireplaces, a three-story layout, and a location in the heart of downtown. The home is named after the unique penny floor in the foyer, which helped inspire our “Palace” theme. Our goal has been to preserve the history and personality of the house while adding the comforts modern travelers want.
